Participating agencies and supervisors who directly oversee Fellows play a critical role in the fellowship experience. Research shows that mentoring and strong relationships between supervisors and staff make a big difference in the success of young leaders. While supervisors of Turning the Tide Fellows will have a few additional responsibilities, their roles in supporting these young adults will be important to their development and will ultimately benefit the field by cultivating future leaders.
Turning the Tide is committed to ensuring that each sponsoring agency's experience is a positive one, with a simple and straightforward process.
Benefits of being a sponsoring agency
• We do the initial recruiting and screening, saving you valuable time and resources.
• We recruit from outside the usual recruitment pools, attracting people with passion for human services work.
• Fellows bring energy and drive to your agency. They come from a variety of experiences and are committed to the work of your agency.
• We provide a supportive cohort and continuous learning opportunities. Research shows that those things, plus meaningful hard work, are what the “millennial” generation is looking for.
• The program was designed to specifically fit the needs of the human services sector, keeping in mind the unique needs and demands of your workplace.
• Fellows bring strong values to your workplace. They receive regular training in the Public Allies leadership values of asset-based solutions, inclusion, collaboration, integrity, and continuous learning.
• The AmeriCorps program adds value to the Fellowship experience at no cost to you. Benefits include a loan deferment and an education award.
