Apply to be an Ally

We are looking for a diverse local leaders. Allies earn a monthly stipend of $1,600, an education award of $5,645 and invaluable leadership and work experience.

Allies serve four days per week in a nonprofit and one day per week in training throughout the 10-month apprenticeship. Many of our allies recruit volunteers, help launch new programs, and/or help connect communities to services. Successful candidates are motivated to use their work/life experiences to create sustainable community change.

Becoming a Partner

We’re currently recruiting partners for our 2016-2017 program year (September 2016 - June 2017.)

Host Partners commit to hosting a Public Ally AmeriCorps Member for a 10-month period, providing quality work and supervision, and in return, increase their capacity; connect with other nonprofit partners; and help shape some of our region's brightest minds. More information is available here.

Support Public Allies

It's an exciting time to get involved with Public Allies Washington, DC.  We have a wide range of opportunities, whether you have one hour to contribute or you are looking for an ongoing volunteer opportunity. We also have opportunities for individuals and groups. You can:    

  • Serve as a guest speaker or conduct an informational interview with an Ally.
  • Mentor an Ally. Commitment is at least one hour per month for one year. More information is available here. Application is available here.
  • Connect us to prospective partners, Allies and other supporters. 
  •   Join our local advisory board.  Be an ambassador for Public Allies and partner in building our sustainability. Click here for more information.     
  • Donate. Support our efforts to build a vibrant sustainable, leadership pipeline that prepares leaders for careers and social change. You can support an Ally, a service day, a six-month service partnership, alumni engagement or all of our programs.No donation is too small.
  • Share a new opportunity that may not be listed above.
