We’re changing the face and practice of leadership in Indianapolis.

 

Welcome to Public Allies Indianapolis! 2010-2011 is a ground breaking year for Public Allies Indianapolis as we have 22 Allies placed in 20 Nonprofit Organizations across the city. These young adults, between the ages of 18 and 30, are working in a wide variety of organizations to strengthen Nonprofits, Communities, and Civic Engagement. 
 
Public Allies Indianapolis is a signature AmeriCorps program of the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center located at 1802 N. Illinois Street - 317.920.0330.  Please contact site director, Marc McAleavey (ext. 104) or program managers, Casey Bridgeford (ext. 107) and Megan Johnson (ext. 111) for more information about the program and how you can serve as a resource, become a potential ally or Partner Organization or play another role in making Indianapolis a place that is good for all of us.

Are you ready to make a significant impact on your community? Public Allies Indianapolis is an intense 10-month Apprenticeship Program designed to develop the next generation of civic leaders.

Host a young leader at your organization: Increase your organizational capacity, recruit and manage more volunteers, all the while supporting diverse young leaders!

 Enhance Your Services While Developing Indianapolis Leaders!!
Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center, partnered with the national organization Public Allies, is getting ready for another Apprenticeship Class!  Public Allies is a premier pipeline for developing diverse young nonprofit and community leaders, and prepares leaders and organizations to lead more effectively for our changing times.
Public Allies are matched with nonprofit organizations where they serve 32 hours a week, generally Monday through Thursday, for 10 months starting on September 1, 2011. Our nonprofit partner organizations help develop diverse young leaders while enhancing their services.

Partnering with Public Allies will increase your organization’s ability to:
o Create, improve and expand your services   
o Cultivate diverse young talent
o Build community across social boundaries   
o Generate new volunteers
o Collaborate with other organizations   
o Evaluate performance and impact
o Strengthen your organization through our nationally recognized and supported leadership program!

Tuesday, June 7th, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm – Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, 1920 W. Morris Street, Indianapolis, IN.

Public Allies provides our nonprofit partners with:
   
o Recruitment and selection of talented and diverse candidates and coordination of the apprenticeship matching process   
o Valuable experience in a nonprofit organization improving, expanding, and/or developing critical programs and services
o Ally coaching and support through a robust leadership development curriculum, personalized coaching, structured evaluation and reporting, and other supports   
o Supervision, coaching and feedback to your Public Ally/Allies to ensure their growth and maximize the value added to your organization   
o Contribution of 33% of the Ally stipend (approx. $5,000), plus health care, child care and a $5,350 education award – all provided through our affiliation with AmeriCorps     
o Contribution of approximately $11,000 to the Ally stipend.

•    May 13: Organization Information Session at the John H. Boner Center
•    May 16-27: Round 1 interviews
•    May 18: Organization Information Session at Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center
•    May 30: Interviewees notified of invitation to group interview
•    June 7: Organization Information Session at the Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center
•    June 15: Public Ally and Partner Organization Applications are due
•     June 20th: Public Ally Applicant Group Interviews and final selections made
•    June 24: 2010-2011 Presentations of Learning
•    June 27: 2010-2011 Presentations of Learning
•    June 28: 2010-2011 Presentations of Learning
•    June 28: 2010-2011 Graduation Ceremony
•    July 1: Partner Organization Applicant site visits are complete.
•    June 15: Partner Organization Applications are due
•    July 11:  Public Ally Matching Fair
•    September 1: 2011-2012 Apprenticeships start
•    July 1-7: Public Ally Orientation
•    July 8:  Public Allies’ first day at Partner Organization
