We’re changing the face and practice of leadership in Arizona.

At Public Allies Arizona, we believe changing times call for a new kind of leadership.   Allies are young, diverse, and passionate social change makers who support dozens of community projects in partnership with local nonprofit organizations.

Arizona State University Lodestar Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Innovation added Public Allies to its portfolio of programs in 2006. With its mission to "advance diverse, young leaders to strengthen communities," Public Allies aligns with the Center's focus to build the capacity of those who lead, manage and support nonprofit organizations.

The Public Allies program benefits:
-Young adults interested in social change
-Nonprofit agencies needing the assistance of an additional young staff member
-The community as a whole

Our Allies change their lives and our community through a rigorous AmeriCorps program that combines full-time, paid apprenticeships in nonprofits with intensive skills training, active community-building projects, personalized coaching, and critical reflection. We provide all of this through a nationally recognized approach that’s rooted in a practice of values.

Everyone leads… and we walk the talk. Our Allies are ages 18 to 30, over 67% are people of color, and 53% are college graduates. Allies are of and for our local community, and they share a deep commitment to strengthening the entire Valley of the Sun.

We’re creating pathways for a stronger community and a lifetime of impact. More than half of Alumni continue a career in the nonprofit and public sectors, and about 85% of Alumni say they would participate again if they could. Partner organizations report that their work with an Ally can increase their capacity by more than 30%Results like these have led the Public Allies program to be recognized as a model for national service.
